ELECTION
Labor Neighbor walks begin this Saturday
It’s never been more clear that big corporations and wealthy individuals have rigged the system to put their profits before the interests of the rest of us. With the Supreme Court’s Citizens United ruling, the conservative Roberts court has opened the floodgates for the rich, privileged few to buy even more political influence.
It doesn’t have to be this way. They may have the money, but we have the people. And if we get started NOW, explaining to fellow union members what’s at stake in the coming elections and which candidates will put people first, we can prevail.
Labor Neighbor, the Washington State Labor Council’s grassroots member-to-member political action program, hits its stride this week as union volunteers continue to phone bank in preparation for this weekend’s first neighborhood walks of the Primary Election season.
