“I am very honored to receive the award,” Rose said. “I’d also recognize our delegates to the labor council. I have had their support for the 10 years I have served as the Secretary-Treasurer. Whether it’s raising money for the scholarship fund, or bringing a jar or two of union-made JIF peanut butter for the food drive — all right… 2,031 jars — I know I can always count on them for support of our community service projects.”
She added, “While my name appears on the award, it really acknowledges the efforts of the United Way and the Labor Community in Pierce County, and is a testament of what we can achieve when we work together.”
At last weekend’s conference, participants strategized about community collaboration, and Rose’s work as a leader in Pierce County was hailed as exemplifying the coalition-building, family values, and dedication of the labor movement.
