Spokane Labor Rally will be Wednesday

SPOKANE (Oct. 10, 2013) — All union members and their family members are invited to join the Spokane Regional Labor Council and its affiliates at their annual Labor Rally on Wednesday, Oct. 16 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Spokane Interstate Fairgrounds, 404 N. Havana. This is a great opportunity to enjoy come good music, good food and good company, while mingling with labor-endorsed candidates.

“The Labor Rally has been a great opportunity for our members and their families to come out and meet the candidates labor has endorsed, ask questions and get an idea how these politicians will work for them if elected,” said Beth Thew, Secretary-Treasurer of the Spokane Regional Labor Council. “We make it a really fun, social event where the candidates are relaxed, our members feel like they have input and everyone walks away energized, a little more educated and ready to vote for people who are going to stand up for working families in our state and locally.”

Tickets are available at the door or at Spokane-area union offices. A $1 donation is requested for food, beverages and door-prize entry. Children 12 and under eat free. Also, please bring non-perishable food items to donate to Second Harvest Food Bank to help fight hunger in the community.

After the rally, from 7:30 to 10 p.m., Washington Young Emerging Labor Leaders (WA YELL) will celebrate the first anniversary of its Spokane Chapter with a social event for all people interested in advocating for the next generation in the labor movement. It will be in the Pend Oreille Banquet Room (5th Floor) at the Comfort Inn,  923 E Third in Spokane. For more info about the WA YELL event, email Amy Cowan or call her at 509-328-6090 ext. 205.
