Mosqueda named WSLC Political and Strategic Campaign Director
(April 29, 2015) — The following statement was released this morning by Jeff Johnson, President of the Washington State Labor Council, AFL-CIO:
In her work for the WSLC, Teresa has worked closely with and won the respect and trust of both union and community political directors and leaders. Her skills, talents and existing relationships will help me and the WSLC advance our work developing shared agendas, strategic organizing campaigns (raising wages, naturalization, revenue reform, etc.), and recruiting, training and electing political champions for working people. Our goal is to strengthen the labor movement through greater political and economic power, and Teresa Mosqueda will play an important role in in this work.
Upon accepting the position Teresa said, “I am incredibly excited and eager to take on this new role within the labor movement in Washington state. I look forward to working with labor and community to help build-up the progressive power base, grow voter turnout, and advance initiatives and campaigns that help working families achieve greater shared prosperity.”
Finally, I want to remind folks that the WSLC, along with Camp Wellstone, is putting on a Leadership Development and Campaign Training School June 1-4 at the Laborer’s Training Center in Kingston, Wash. We are looking for union and community activists interested in public service to step forward to this training. If you are interested please contact Teresa Mosqueda at tmosqueda@wslc.org or Lori Province at lprovince@wslc.org.
