OPEIU 8, UFCW 21 announce contract wins at Group Health

OPEIU 8, UFCW 21 and SEIU 1199NW members speak out at GHC Trustee Meeting in September.

The following is from OPEIU Local 8 and UFCW 21:

(Nov. 5, 2015) — On Wednesday, Office and Professional Employees (OPEIU) Local 8 and United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) 21 both announced results from recent rounds of voting from members at Group Health. The negotiations, done on a unified front with UFCW 21 and OPEIU Local 8, had taken the better part of a year and required a strong and united membership across the unions involved. In the end, the new contracts were overwhelmingly ratified.

The new three-year agreements include protection for pension, sick leave, better wages, and job security. Additional key aspects of the contracts help improve the working conditions for these health care workers so that they are better able to care for themselves, their families and their patients.
