Celebrate A. Philip Randolph’s birthday April 18 in Seattle

SEATTLE — A. Philip Randolph was born on April 15, 1889, and spent a lifetime engaged in the fight for social and economic justice for African Americans and others who were oppressed. The Seattle Chapter of the A. Philip Randolph Institute will celebrate his birthday with some very special guests at its monthly meeting on Monday, April 18 — and you are invited!

Everyone is encouraged to attend Seattle APRI’s Open House Meet-and-Greet Reception, starting at 6:30 p.m. on April 18 at the Washington State Labor Council office, 321 16th Ave. S. in Seattle. Featured speakers will include National APRI President Clayola Brown (who is making a “virtual visit”) and national labor educator Bill Fletcher.

Participants will celebrate the life and legacy of A. Philip Randolph, and hear updates on the chapter’s activities, including support for the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. BLE’s Mike Elliott will share his union’s struggle today for Justice on the Rails.
