June 22 marks the first day that pink slips will start to be distributed by state agencies and they prepare for a partial state government shutdown if a budget deal is not reached by July 1. At jeopardy are the paychecks for thousands of state employees throughout the state, contracts with local small businesses, closure of state-run fish hatcheries and state parks during their peak season, suspension of supervision of parolees, freezing of capital projects at universities, and social service assistance for thousands of Washington’s most vulnerable families.
The All In For Action coalition, which includes the Washington State Labor Council, AFL-CIO, is comprised of 50 organizations committed to cleaning up Washington’s upside-down tax code and fully funding essential services in Washington state.
