Teamsters 117 ‘Grow and Ignite’ Womxn’s Conference is Sept. 16

TUKWILA, Wash. — On Sept. 16, Teamsters Local 117 is hosting Grow and Ignite: The 2023 Womxn’s Conference — featuring keynote speaker Washington State Labor Council President April Sims, the first Black woman to be elected president of an AFL-CIO state federation. And an invitation to attend is extended to all interested union members. Register now!

This exciting event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Teamsters Local 117 hall, 14675 Interurban Ave. South in Tukwila. It will feature presentations, open discussion, workshops, a dance performance, and an art auction of pieces created by Teamsters Local 117 members and supporters. Childcare will be provided!

The program will include:

  • Workshops covering how to advance equity through collective bargaining, the impact of recent and potential Supreme Court decisions on working womxn and Unions, self-defense techniques, and an opportunity to experience sound healing;
  • An auction of art created by Teamsters Local 117 members and supporters and a dance performance by Mexican Folk Dance Youth Group, Joyas Mestizas;
  • A chance to connect to other Union womxn and to develop your leadership skills;
  • Lunch catered by a Teamsters 117 member-owned restaurant;
  • And much, much more!
