Tax Day: Don’t forget about the Working Families Tax Credit
The WFTC is a new annual tax refund for Washington residents worth $50-$1,200 depending on your income level and how many qualifying children you have in your household. Undocumented workers and other who use an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) to do their taxes are eligible for this payment.
This money belongs to you. An annual cash refund of up to $1,200 for eligible Washingtonians. You must file your federal taxes, and submit an application with the state Department of Revenue for this refund. Applications are open all year long and free help applying is available.
- Have a valid Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).
- Lived in Washington a minimum of 183 days in 2023 (over half the year). See Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about residency to learn more.
- Are at least 25 and under 65 years of age OR have a qualifying child in 2023.
- Filed a 2023 federal tax return.
- Eligible to claim the federal Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) on their 2023 tax return (or would meet the requirements for EITC but are filing with an ITIN).
