Rally: Stand strong for education!
Rally with educators and community allies standing up to defend education from attacks, both nationally and in Washington State
LYNNWOOD, WA (February 26, 2025) — On Tuesday, March 4th, education workers and community allies are standing up against assaults on public education and opportunity for students of all ages. Join AFT members from Edmonds Community College, Cascadia College, Communities for Our Colleges and others at the Lynwood Event Center in a solidarity action defending education workers and educational opportunities for Washingtonians.
Our public education system is a powerful tool that builds our communities, our workforces, and our future, all in one. While attacks one education rain down from the federal administration, the struggle is not solely national. In Washington state, a grim future lies ahead for students, educators, and schools if the Legislature doesn’t pursue progressive revenue options to invest in students rather than cut student opportunity.
“Our public education system, from early learning to higher education, is under attack from the Trump Administration,” said AFT Washington president Karen Strickland. “At the same time, our state is struggling with a revenue deficit, making it a challenge to invest in our schools and colleges. Something’s gotta change! On March 4th, our members are raising our collective voice for our communities.”
TAKE A STAND: Join educators and allies for a rally on Tuesday, March 4 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the Lynnwood Event Center (3711 196th St. SW, Lynnwood, 98036).
