TAKE A STAND!
Release brother Maximo Londonio
Labor will gather outside the NW Detention Center for a rally hosted by the Machinists
TACOMA, WA (May 30, 2025) — Machinists, fellow union members, and community allies will rally in front of the Northwest Detention Center (NWDC) on Friday, June 6 at 4:00 p.m. to call for brother Maximo Londonio to be released from detention and returned to his family and community.
Maximo Londonio — a green card holder, resident of Olympia, WA and member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW) Local Lodge 695 — was detained by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) upon his return to the United States from a family trip to the Philippines, despite his legal permanent resident status. A father of three, he has been held since May 15.
Brother Max is a lead fork lift driver at Crown Cork & Seal, an IAM-represented manufacturing facility in Lacey, where he has worked since 2017. At a rally on May 23, his coworkers and fellow union members described him as a family man and beloved co-worker.
Maximo and his family have made trips to the Philippines before with no issue, according to Tanggol Migrante Network WA, a community organization supporting Filipino immigrants. The group believes he may have been detained due to a past nonviolent conviction, over two decades old, and resolved. Max is 42 years old, and has lived in the United States since he was a child.
“Like so many across our country, our IAM Union Brother Maximo is simply trying to be the best husband and father he can be and provide for his family,” said IAM Union International President Brian Bryant in a statement. “To our knowledge, there has been no evidence to support the U.S. government’s continued detention of Maximo. We call for his immediate release.”
TAKE A STAND: rally for brother Max on June 6 at 4:00 p.m. at NWDC (1623 East J. St., Tacoma, WA). Donations are also being collected to help fund his legal fight and support his three children while he is detained.
