UFCW 3000 affiliates with the WSLC

Building solidarity and worker power, the largest private-sector union in Washington state joins a coalition of more than 650 local unions united together in the WSLC.

SEATTLE, WA (October 6, 2025) – Today, UFCW Local 3000 and the Washington State Labor Council, AFL-CIO (WSLC) proudly announce that UFCW 3000 has affiliated with the WSLC, uniting hundreds of thousands of union members across Washington state.

UFCW 3000, the largest private sector union in the state, represents more than 58,000 grocery, retail, and healthcare workers. The WSLC, a coalition of more than 600,000 union workers and their families, is the largest labor organization in Washington. A homebase for solidarity, the Council fights for the rights and dignity of all working people.

The labor movement faces major challenges at this moment. Anti-worker politicians and their billionaire backers have grabbed power at every level, and seek to leverage that power to crush working people. They’re trying to shred our contracts, dismantle the workplace protections we fought so hard to win, criminalize immigrant workers, and destroy the freedom of speech and assembly rights that form the foundation of organized labor’s power. But working people are the backbone of this country. United, we’re strong enough to fight back.

“In every era, against every obstacle, the labor movement’s theory of change has always been rooted in solidarity. With 58,000 more labor siblings joining the WSLC family, we’re energized for the work ahead. United, we can protect workers’ rights, grow worker power, and ensure working families across Washington can thrive,” said April Sims, WSLC President.

In the last few years especially, we’re seeing CEOs across all sectors feeling emboldened to crack down on organizing. Joining forces gives us the strength we need to take on rising corporate power in Washington and empower more workers to have a say in their workplaces.

“Our rank-and-file executive board voted unanimously to join the WSLC because the future of working people here and across the country depends on solidarity. The mass concentration of power and wealth in the hands of the few hurts all of us, and it’s going to take all of us working together to stop further consolidation within our industries,” said Faye Guenther, UFCW 3000 President.
