Fiber workers’ info pickets connect with community
Heading back into contract negotiations, Ziply Fiber workers are building broad support and standing united
BEAVERTON, OR (November 14, 2025) — Workers at Ziply Fiber will hit the streets for an informational picket on Saturday, November 15, building solidarity and momentum for their ongoing fight for a fair contract. Represented by IBEW Local 89, they work on fiber internet, bringing connectivity to local communities in the Pacific Northwest.
Primarily based in Washington and Oregon, these 450 workers have been negotiating since January for a new contract after their current collective bargaining agreement expired in May. The workers overwhelmingly rejected the employer’s most recent contract proposal which failed to meet their demands concerning fair wages, enhanced benefits, improved jobsite safety, overtime pay, short term disability, paid sick leave, quality training, and job security.

Contract talks are soon to resume, and the info picket planned for Saturday comes on the heels of a successful action in Everett last weekend, drawing support from fellow union workers and passing community members.
“The overwhelming response at our Everett event showed that our communities understand the value these workers bring,” said Richard Murray, Business Manager of IBEW Local 89.
“As we return to the bargaining table November 18-20, we need to maintain this momentum and show Ziply Fiber that we remain united in our fight for a fair contract that recognizes the essential work our members do every day.”
IBEW Local 89 is inviting supporters in the area to join their family-friendly info picket at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 15 in Beaverton, OR on the corner of SW Cedar Hills Blvd and SW Millikan Way.
