South Sound Labor School returns for spring session
Keep May Day energy rolling and join the spring session of the South Sound Labor School on May 2
OLYMPIA, WA (April 23, 2026) — Working people will take to the streets on International Workers Day next Friday, at a time when strategically exercising worker power could not be more important. Millions have marched in the past year to protest attacks on workers, human rights, and our democracy. Flexing our power in the streets is important; building on that momentum is essential.
So there’s no better time to tap-in to the South Sound Labor School, a joint offering of the Thurston-Lewis-Mason Central Labor Council and Washington Labor Education and Research Center (WA LERC). It’s an initiative offering labor education to help working people — both those in unions and those not yet organized — fight against the growing attacks on their livelihoods and dignity. The spring session of the South Sound Labor School will be Saturday, May 2 at Evergreen State College.
From Thurston-Lewis-Mason CLC:
“Union curious” workers, union members, and members of community organizations will have the opportunity to engage in panel discussions, community strategy sessions, and workshops such as “Campaign Planning,” “Creative Contract Interpretation,” “Effective Orientations for New Members,” “Building Bridges Across Political Divides,” and more. A full list of workshops can be found at https://www.tlmlabor.org/SSLS_Spring2026.
These quarterly South Sound Labor School sessions will offer working people – whether they’re in a union or not – the education they need to make our communities stronger and more effective. The $20 registration fee for each Saturday session covers a light breakfast, lunch, and refreshments throughout the day. Union members should check with their leadership about having their registration fees sponsored by their Locals.
