WSLC endorses Marie Gluesenkamp Perez

Delegates to the 2026 WSLC Constitutional Convention voted to endorse the Southwest Washington congresswoman for a third term

WENATCHEE, WA (July 27, 2026) — Hundreds of delegates to the WSLC Convention representing more than 600,000 union members in every corner of Washington state voted on Thursday to endorse Congresswoman Marie Gluesenkamp Perez to represent Washington’s third congressional district.

“We must flip the U.S. House of Representatives to put a check on the profoundly anti-worker administration in the White House that has ripped up union contracts for a million workers; cut funding for union, clean-energy jobs; targeted immigrant workers and workers of color at our jobsites; killed and denied due process to our union siblings; and passed legislation to gut healthcare funding just to give billionaires tax breaks,” said April Sims, President of the Washington State Labor Council, AFL-CIO. “The road to retaking the U.S. House runs through Washington’s third congressional district and Washington’s labor movement is committed to using our people power to send Marie Gluesenkamp Perez back to D.C. to represent Southwest Washington’s working families.”

Gluesenkamp Perez has represented Washington’s third congressional district since winning her first election in 2022.

“As someone who lives in CD 3, I am grateful the delegates to this year’s Constitutional Convention chose to endorse Rep. Gluesenkamp Perez,” said WSLC Vice President Diana Winther. “If she loses, we will likely end up with someone who will vote against workers at every opportunity and it will likely take years to regain that seat.”

Winther continued: “I’ve spent enough time with Marie to see she’s a real working person, not a career politician, and that she genuinely cares. I was able to spend time with her back in May when she came to a fundraiser supporting the workers killed and injured at the Nippon tragedy. She arrived with no media, no fanfare, so you know it wasn’t a photo op. She was simply there to speak with the families and show solidarity with a community that was hurting. That’s what I want in an elected official: someone who shows up to do the work and not just for the limelight and that’s what we will get when we re-elect her to the House this fall.”

Delegates also voted to endorse State Representatives April Connors (R-Kennewick) and Alicia Rule (D-Blaine). They join a comprehensive slate of endorsements made by delegates to the WSLC’s Committee on Political Education (COPE) Convention in May.

WSLC endorsements require a two-thirds majority vote of delegates, indicating that candidates and initiatives that clear this high bar have broad support across Washington’s labor movement.
