Check out our new calendar at The Stand

The Stand recently added a new calendar of labor events around Washington state. If you have seen it, then you know about the following coming events (follow the links on our calendar page to get more details on each event):

HOTEL WORKERS RALLY IN SEATTLE — The next “Rally for Justice in Seattle Hotels” will be this Friday, July 22 from 4 to 6 p.m. outside The Westin Hotel, 5th and Virginia in downtown Seattle. This summer, union contracts covering more than 1,400 Seattle-area hotel and restaurant workers have expired.

FEDEX PROTEST IN BELLINGHAM — Friday, July 22 is also a National Day of Action to protest tax-dodging union-busting FedEx. Join members of the Northwest Washington CLC and help leaflet outside the Bellingham FedEx store at 501 E. Holly St.

CANDIDATES B.B.Q. IN RENTON — The 1st Annual King County Building Trades “Meet the Candidates BBQ,” hosted by UA Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 32, will be Saturday, July 23 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Local 32 Hall, 595 Monster Rd SW in Renton. Stop in, grab a burger, and meet your candidates for state, county, city and local office. For more, information visit www.ualocal32.com.

GOOD JOBS FORUM IN SEATTLE — Pro-worker members of Congress — including Rep. Jim McDermott and Rep. Raul Grijalva, co-chair of the House Progressive Caucus — are coming to Seattle to hear from YOU at a “Speak Out for Good Jobs Now” event at noon on Saturday, July 23 at the South Seattle Community College’s Brockey Conference Center, 6000 16th Ave. SW. Come share your story!

C.B.T.U. BANQUET IN SEATTLE — The 2nd Annual Banquet of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists will be held Saturday, July 23 with the reception starting at 6 p.m. and the banquet at 7 p.m. at the Machinists Hall, 9125 15th Place South in Seattle.
