Rally for Good Jobs on Thursday in Seattle

UPDATE: More than 300 turned out for this Oct. 13 event at Westlake Park to support the call for Good Jobs Now! (See coverage at Slog.) More “Washington Wants to Work” events are planned in the coming week across the state. Get details!

Washington Wants to Work! We need good jobs now, and NOT Tim Eyman’s Initiative 1125!

That will be the message delivered at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at a Rally for Good Jobs at Seattle’s Westlake Park, 401 Pine St. (THIS IS A CHANGE from its original location: Victor Steinbrueck Park.) All supporters of good jobs and a quality transportation system are urged to join us for this rally highlighting the importance of maintaining funding for critical transportation and infrastructure projects in King County.

The event is part of the AFL-CIO’s National Week of Action, which in Washington state, is actually more of a fortnight of action. Check The Stand’s calendar for more events around the state. For more info, download the rally flier or call Max Brown of the M.L. King County Labor Council at 206-441-7102.

Meanwhile, here is some video coverage of the Monday, Oct. 10 gathering organized by Working Washington at Westlake Park as the Occupy Seattle protesters were joined by hundreds who called for a renewed focus on job creation.
