President Obama praises Boeing workforce in Everett

EVERETT — President Barack Obama visited the Boeing plant here on Friday to thank and praise its proud workforce and to call for greater efforts to spur American manufacturing and bring back good jobs that have been outsourced overseas.

“The Dreamliner is the plane of the future,” Obama told the crowd of Boeing workers and dignitaries assembled at the Everett plant. “And by building it here, Boeing is taking advantage of a huge opportunity that exists right now to bring more jobs and manufacturing back to the Unites States of America.”

This video coverage of President Obama’s visit was produced by the Kathy Cummings, Communications Director of the Washington State Labor Council, AFL-CIO:

“I’m glad I was here today to hear what the president had to say about manufacturing and his commitment to it, and the promotion of the great products we build right here in Everett, Washington, and throughout the Boeing Corporation,” said R. Thomas Buffenbarger, President of the International Association of Machinists.

The video also includes reactions to Obama’s speech from rank-and-file Machinists Union members.
