Support Pacific Propeller workers in Kent at Sept. 3 picket

KENT (Aug. 30, 2013) — Machinist Union (IAM) Local 289, District 160, has been in negotiations since January with management at Pacific Propeller, LLC. The company is proposing to force IAM members out of their pensions, to move them to a lesser medical plan, to limit an arbitration award, and unacceptable wage increases, among other issues.

Located in Kent, Wash., pacific-propellerPacific Propeller is provides repair and overhaul services to several regional airline aircraft, as well as military operators of large propeller aircraft. Contract negotiations have been ongoing and a federal mediator was brought in for the last session. The company’s last offer was voted on and unanimously rejected by the membership. A strike vote was also held at the meeting and overwhelmingly passed. Negotiations are scheduled again with a federal mediator on Tuesday, Sept. 3.

IAMTAKE A STAND!  As a show of solidarity, there will be an informational picket in front of Pacific Propeller, 5802 S 228th St. in Kent, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3. Please stop by and show your support for these workers as they fight to maintain fair wages and benefits. Parking is limited to please carpool, if possible.
