Fill out survey to help identify unique risks for women in trades

The following is from Safety & Health Empowerment for Women in Trades:

(Jan. 8, 2016) — Construction work can be dangerous with exposure to machines, dust, and chemicals. Women workers may face additional risks from inadequate physical protection and stress. As opportunities for women in the trades continue to grow in the Pacific Northwest, we need to learn more about their unique workplace hazards.

SHEWT-logoSHEWT uses a survey to investigate workplace risks among women in the construction trades in Washington state. By identifying the main work-related health and safety risks, we can design programs to make construction a safer and healthier place for women workers.

Both women and men currently working as apprentices or journey-level workers in any of the building and construction trades in Washington state are eligible to participate. The survey can be completed online or over the phone with an interviewer in 30 minutes. Participation is voluntary and confidential.

CLICK here to take the survey or to learn more. The first 400 people to complete the survey will receive a $20 gift card!

SHEWT is a joint project of the University of Washington Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences, Washington Women in Trades, and the Washington State Labor Education and Research Center. Funding and support for this project has been provided by the State of Washington, Department of Labor and Industries, Safety & Health Investment Projects.
