3-day organizer training May 13-15 in Tacoma

AFLCIO-organizing-instituteTACOMA — The AFL-CIO Organizing Institute trains member activists and staff in basic organizing skills. In partnership with the Washington State Labor Council and the Pierce County Central Labor Council, unions affiliated with the AFL-CIO are invited to send their talented rank-and-file members to attend the institute’s 3-Day Basic Organizing Skills training in Tacoma. It will be May 13-15 at the PCCLC, 3049 South 36th St., Suite 201.

The deadline to register is Friday, April 29. Afterwards registrants are placed on a wait list and attendance is subject to availability. The cost is $125, which includes training materials and meals. Other costs, such as hotel stays, lost time, and travel are the responsibility of the sponsoring union. Union members being sponsored by their union can register here.

●  How to Move Workers to Take Action
●  Leadership ID and Development
●  Internal/External Organizing Campaign Techniques

Here is the 3-Day schedule:

● Friday, May 13 — 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
● Saturday, May 14 — 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
● Sunday, May 15 — 9 a.m. – Noon

HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS: The closest unionized hotel is the Hotel Murano, 1320 Broadway Plaza, Tacoma, WA 98402 (2.5 miles); reservations 253-238-8000. Other nearby hotels include the Holiday Inn, Hampton Inn, La Quinta Inn Suites, and Courtyard Marriott.
