Register now for labor history conference in Portland May 20-22
PORTLAND (May 11, 2016) — People interested in Washington, Oregon and Pacific Northwest labor history are encouraged to attend the 2016 Conference of the Pacific Northwest Labor History Association to share views on “Labor, Justice, and the Environment: Historical Insights, Alliances, and Challenges.” It will be May 20-22 at the Portland State University Conference Center.
Join labor historians, students, environmental activists, politicians, and trade unionists in a celebration of the rich historical past of the working people of the Pacific Northwest. British Columbia legislator George Heyman and Oregon Working Families policy adviser Barbara Dudley will lead the theme discussion moderated by labor historian Norm Diamond. Washington State Labor Council President Jeff Johnson will update the conference on the Paris Climate Change Conference with author Jeremy Brecher joining him via Skype.
More than 20 workshops, presentations, films and displays will bring labor history to life. Conference participants will also enjoy musical interludes provided by the Portland band General Strike, Washington State environmental singer-songwriter Dana Lyons, and Eugene’s roots duo Monday Morning Denial.
