(Sept. 14, 2016) — No matter what you hear about the Trans-Pacific Partnership being “dead,” don’t believe it!
The Obama administration has announced it will seek passage of the corporate rights deal under the pretense that it will expand trade and create jobs. We’ve heard that one before. We’ve seen with our own eyes what these so-called “free trade” deals do to American jobs and wages.
TAKE A STAND — Today (Wednesday, Sept. 14) is a National Call-In Day to Oppose the TPP. Call your representatives in Congress toll-free at 1-855-712-8441 and tell them DON’T ram the TPP through during the post-election lame-duck session of Congress.
Both presidential candidates say they oppose the TPP. But many of our representatives in Congress with a history of voting for these deals — including several right here in Washington state — won’t say how they intend to vote.
They know the TPP is unpopular. Elected officials will tell you they stand up for workers today in order to get your votes. But they might then turn around and vote for the TPP after the election in November in order to appease the White House and corporate lobbying groups.
The only way to defeat this corporate rights deal is through people power.
Start by calling your representative in Congress TODAY at 1-855-712-8441 and tell him or her NO T.P.P. IN THE LAME-DUCK SESSION.
Thank you, in advance, for making your voice heard.
