APALA Seattle Gala is Saturday; get tickets to support their work

SEATTLE — The Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance (APALA) Seattle Chapter invites all union members to join its 2021 Virtual Gala this Saturday, March 20 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Due to the ongoing pandemic restrictions, this 22nd annual banquet will be held virtually via Zoom. The purchase of a $35 ticket to the gala ($15 for students/retirees) will include an annual membership to APALA. Get your tickets here.

Since the pandemic started, APALA has been responding to the immediate needs of our community and doing our best to show up for our members during this tough year,” said Eunice How, APALA Seattle Chapter President. “APALA Seattle continues to be at the forefront of strengthening community and labor partnerships, coordinating APA civic engagement and developing the next generation of organizers and activists dedicated to advancing social and economic justice. We hope with your help to identify Asian American union members and encourage them to become more active in their unions and communities. APALA members gain valuable skills in leadership, organizing, and political action from participating in these activities as well as the confidence and knowledge to become more effective trade union activists within their locals.”

If you cannot join Saturday’s virtual gala, you can renew or sign up for an annual membership. General membership costs $35, or $15 for students/retirees. A Lifetime Warrior membership costs $1,000. Membership can be purchased online or checks may be made to APALA, P.O. Box 84269, Seattle WA 98124. Please purchase your membership by April 7, 2021. This will help guarantee that Seattle APALA retains its current two seats at the National APALA Executive Board.

Unions and organizations can also make donations to support Seattle APALA’s important work. Donations will be used to provide scholarships for workers who want to join but have financial barriers. Checks may be made to APALA, P.O. Box 84269, Seattle WA 98124. If you have another preferred payment method, please contact Seattle APALA directly.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to our organizer Amy Leong via email at apalawa@gmail.com.
