Join APALA’s convention on Aug. 3-6 in Seattle
All workers are invited to attend event to ‘reimagine and rejuvenate’ movement
SEATTLE (June 23, 2023) — The Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance (APALA), AFL-CIO, Seattle chapter, invites all to join APALA’s 17th biennial convention. For the first time, the event will be hosted in Seattle, at the Westin Hotel from Thursday, Aug. 3 through Sunday, Aug. 6.
APALA is welcoming workers, community partners, and APALA members from across the U.S. and around the world to its convention. This year’s theme, Workers Rising Together, encapsulates APALA’s vision for achieving collective liberation by centering the voices of workers and building power and connection through community.
At a time where workers are organizing in record numbers, communities of color and our LGBTQ+ siblings are still under attack. We must invest in Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) to strengthen our movement.
APALA members have continued to organize in lockstep with their communities, and now have embarked upon the difficult work of healing justice. It is only through care work and infusing joy that we can sustainably keep our movement thriving.
Convention is a powerful space to reimagine and rejuvenate, so let’s build the future of the AAPI labor movement together.
Workers, community partners, and APALA members are welcomed to join the APALA convention as an attendee to meet, learn and connect with leaders from across the world fighting for justice.
