Disaster relief from wildfires available for union members

SEATTLE (Aug. 21, 2023) — Union members: If you and your family are experiencing hardship as a result of wildfires or some other natural disaster in Washington state, the Washington State Labor Council, AFL-CIO urges you to apply for disaster relief from the Foundation for Working Families.

The FFWF is a nonprofit formed by the WSLC and its affiliated unions to assist union families in times of hardship or disaster. To apply for disaster relief, fill out and return this form.

“The Foundation is very proud to be able to provide a helping hand to union families who are suffering, thanks to generous donations from unions and rank-and-file members across Washington state,” said WSLC Secretary Treasurer Cherika Carter, who serves on the FFWF Board of Directors. “We’re hoping to help as many people as possible so we encourage union members and organizations to consider making a contribution to the Foundation.”

CONTRIBUTE! — The WSLC continues to urge all organizations and individuals interested in helping union families suffering from a natural disaster or economic hardship to make contributions to the Foundation for Working Families. Make your contribution online or mail a check to the Foundation for Working Families, 321 16th Ave S., Seattle, WA, 98144. The FFWF is a 501(c)(3) organization — federal tax ID 91-1702271 — and all donations are tax-deductible charitable contributions.

For more information about the FFWF, email Laurel Poplack.

The WSLC thanks all of the first responders, disaster relief workers, and state and local agency staffs who have worked so hard to protect their communities during the recent wildfires.
