(Aug. 22, 2023) –The Washington State Labor Council, AFL-CIO recently announced that it is seeking experienced candidates for two positions: Political and Strategic Campaigns Director, and Racial and Gender Justice Director. But with the exception of the WSLC’s employment opportunities, The Stand does not post job announcements for union staff positions.

That’s why union members and other progressive folks who are interested in staff jobs at labor unions and allied organizations in Washington state, and across the nation, should check out the Union Jobs Clearinghouse at UnionJobs.com. It’s the “central site for posting the open positions in unions and socially allied organizations and community organizations that are now accepting applications.”

The site lists union job openings nationally and by state. For example, union staff job openings in Washington state currently include:

► AFSCME Council 28 (Washington Federation of State Employees) is seeking a Spokane-based Field Supervisor, a Tacoma-based Council Representative/Internal Organizer, and an Olympia-based Director of Advocacy – Negotiations, among other positions.

The Drivers Union is seeking a Tukwila-based Assistant Staff Attorney.

The Machinists Institute is seeking an Apprenticeship Administrator.

PROTEC17 is seeking an Executive Assistant.

SEIU Healthcare 1199NW is seeking a Graphic Designer / Print Production Specialist and a Union Organizer.

Those are just a few of the openings currently listed in Washington state. The site also lists positions available at training and apprenticeship programs in the U.S. and Canada.

Unions seeking applicants for their staff job openings can post their announcements at Union Jobs Clearinghouse free of charge.
