SEIUs show solidarity on the line

Striking IBEW 46 Limited Energy Electricians joined by SEIU members

SEATTLE, Wash. (May 14, 2024) — Members of SEIU 6, SEIU 775, SEIU 925, and SEIU Healthcare 1199NW joined IBEW 46 Limited Energy Electricians at strike lines across the region last week, sharing that classic Purple solidarity with our IBEW siblings.

Limited Energy electricians went on strike against NECA on April 11th, unless they are working on a job site covered by a Project Labor Agreement/Community Workforce Agreement. Since then, some individual contractors have been separating from NECA and have been removed from IBEW 46’s strike list. But the strike drags on as NECA refuses to significantly improve its rejected offer.

Since January, IBEW 46 has been bargaining for better wages, paid holidays, and a fair contract for LE electricians to replace the one that expired on March 31, and was subsequently extended for 10 days. But the union says that NECA negotiators refused to make any movement from their rejected contract offer and instead have insulted this workforce by suggesting they are easily replaced.

IBEW 46 continues to urge all union supporters to take part in solidarity actions, like signing their petition to NECA.
