Solidarity flourishes on the IAM strikeline

SEATTLE, WA (September 27, 2024) — 33,000 Machinists are on strike, but they aren’t alone on the line. Their fight is backed by working people across Washington, Oregon, and the nation. As the workers enter their third week on strike, other Boeing workers, fellow union members, and community supporters are standing with them.

Pilots and flight attendants are supporting the lines, including a Renton visit yesterday by Sara Nelson, President of the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA.

Beyond the aerospace industry, local unions have been adopting strike lines, coming out in groups to back up the workers on the line.

MLK Labor and the Washington State Labor Council union staff — current and perhaps, future — came out to stand with IAM on the strike lines in Renton.

Direct support on the picket line has come from as far away as Texas:

As IAM and Boeing meet again today at the federal mediator’s table, the workers — and the community members that literally stand beside them — are united. Our future, our fight.
