Pledge to support farm workers
The UFW launches pledge to support farm workers in meeting the challenges of the Trump administration
(November 14, 2024) — As organized labor mobilizes to grow worker power in the face of an incoming anti-worker administration, the United Farm Workers (UFW) is calling on all labor allies to sign a pledge to support farm workers. With real fear swirling over Republican promises of mass deportation, dismantling of labor rights, and gutting essential programs, the UFW is urging support for the working people who feed us.
“Farm workers are out there in the fields continuing to feed America today just like they do every day – and they are worried. During his campaign, Trump said he’d roll out the largest deportation operation in history.”
Such an operation would decimate communities, and rip families apart. And farm workers of all immigration statuses face the possible rollback of essential labor protections they’ve worked hard to win, protections that are literally lifesaving.
“Farm workers of all immigration statuses fear losing their hard-won pesticide and other safety regulations, heat standards, H-2A protections and more,” per the UFW petition.
If a second Trump administration is a continuation — and expansion — of the first, farmworkers are some of the most vulnerable of our community members. And these proposed policies of mass deportation and deregulation harm not only workers and our communities, but the entire agricultural supply chain.
Farm workers are fighting back.
“Farm workers are resilient,” notes UFW. “They have to be. Most have lived through one Trump presidency already. They have deep and strong roots in the country which their labor feeds. They know this country’s agricultural economy would collapse without them.”
TAKE A STAND: sign the UFW pledge to support farm workers today.
