SBWU: ‘Red for Bread’ action

As they head back to the bargaining table, the baristas of Starbucks Workers United are calling on supporters to join solidarity actions between December 10-15

SEATTLE, WA (December 12. 2024) — This week marks the three year anniversary of the first Starbucks Workers United (SBWU) union election in Buffalo, an organizing drive that ignited a campaign that has organized hundreds of Starbucks locations across the U.S., including more than 150 locations just in 2024.

SBWU has been in negotiations for a first contract this year, and is heading back to the bargaining table this month. The union is calling on allies to show the company just how much public support there is for the workers as they continue bargaining.

Union baristas are asking allies to join them for ‘Red for Bread’ solidarity actions by hosting small flyering events at not-yet union stores between December 10 – 15. Each action requires only a small team of 2-3 people; with dozens of not-yet union locations in Washington State, there are lots of opportunities to get involved.

TAKE A STAND: use this form to find the addresses of not-yet union stores near you and sign up to flyer. Once you submit your form, you’ll receive an automated email with a how-to toolkit and materials.
