Moving from classroom crisis to fair funding

Join educators for a teach-in on school funding for the 2025 Legislative Session

The following is from the Renton Education Association

RENTON, WA (January 9, 2025) — On Tuesday, January 14th, educator delegates of MLK Labor Council are hosting a Teach-In to educate workers statewide about the need for new revenue for Washington’s public schools.

They’ve lined up guest ‘teachers’ such as State Superintendent Chris Reykdal, freshman (and pro-union) legislator Shaun Scott, prominent labor leaders, school board directors and others to share JUST THE FACTS about how education is currently funded in WA, the mechanics of proposed revenue streams that COULD be adopted this legislative session and how workers, parents, educators, and students are collaborating in historic ways to ENSURE OUR STUDENTS CAN ACCESS THE PROMISE OF A 21st CENTURY EDUCATION!  More cuts to schools are coming unless we act in solidarity.

Join this 6:30-8:00 PM event virtually or in-person (Seattle area) by registering HERE.  Free food and child care for in-person attendees!

Space is limited, reserve your seat at the table to learn alongside unionists, educators, parents, electeds and students!
