Stand with call center workers
Take action in solidarity with call center workers advocating for legislation to prioritize local jobs and hold corporations accountable
OLYMPIA, WA (March 18, 2025) — Call Center workers organized with Communications Workers of America (CWA) are pushing for accountability for companies that move jobs overseas while simultaneously seeking subsidies like tax breaks from local communities. Such offshoring of jobs hallows out communities and harms both working people and our state’s economy.
Workers are advocating for a bill in the Washington State Legislature, SB 5459, which would keep taxpayer dollars supporting local jobs. SB 5459 would make companies ineligible for taxpayer-funded support if they move jobs overseas. Rather, financial assistance, such as grants, loans, tax benefits, and contracts, would stay with companies that support local jobs.
The bill has successfully passed the Senate floor 30-19, and is now being heard in the State House Labor & Workplace Standards Committee on Wednesday, March 19 at 8:00 a.m. Call center workers are calling for public support for this bill to ensure representatives understand that Washingtonians support corporate accountability.
