State legislators hold townhalls
Legislators are holding town halls all over Washington, offering an opportunity for working people to talk to their elected officials
OLYMPIA, WA (March 13, 2025) — With the latest cutoff in Olympia now past, State Legislators are preparing for in-district town halls to share their work so far this session and hear feedback from their constituents. Town halls are a space where working people — who often can’t take days off to travel to Olympia to speak to their elected officials — can share their ideas with their legislators in their own communities.
With a projected budget shortfall in Washington and attacks on values and funding by the federal government, working people in Washington have been rallying across the state to defend public services and employees, and reject federal actions that hurt working people here at home. The upcoming spate of town halls is one more avenue available to ensure legislators understand their constituents’ priorities.
Here’s how to find info on your local town halls:
- Figure out what district you are in. Enter your address info here and click ‘find my district.’
- Next, check the Town Hall calendars for both the Senate Democrats [link here] & Republicans [link here] and the House Democrats [link here] & Republicans [link here].
- Use ‘Ctrl+F’ (Cmd+F for Mac users) to search by district number and find your legislators’ town halls.
Note that not all legislators have events planned. For those interested in joining a coordinated effort to talk to your legislators about the need to balance the budget not through cuts but though taxes on big business and the wealthy few, Invest in Washington Now is offering talking points and resources. RSVP to get updates on changes to town halls and materials to help make the case for progressive revenue.
