Conference of Resistance to Deportation

SEATTLE, WA (April 25, 2025) — These days it seems that anyone willing to stand against tyranny is subject to attack by our own duly elected government. When all our rights are under attack, what do we do? Stand up! Fight Back!

You’re invited to a May 3 Standing for Democracy event! Standing for Democracy (SFD) is a coalition of labor unions, labor scholars, community organizations and individuals committed to defending democracy and workers’ rights in the face of growing anti-democratic forces.

On May 3rd the Washington State chapter of SFD will be hosting a Conference of Resistance to Deportation and we want to see you there! For security reasons we are not publicizing the exact location of the conference until the last minute; it is being held in South Seattle. Registrants will be sent the location address. You can attend in-person or join on Zoom.

This is a crucial time for those of us working to build a movement of resistance to the current administration and its destructive Project 2025 agenda to come together to teach and learn, listen and speak, and build our communities. We are organizing for a democracy and economy that puts workers and our families (not billionaires) first!. It is heartening to see how manyorganizations and people are standing up! This conference is an opportunity for a deeper dive into the impacts of anti-immigrant action and policy and what the fight back looks like.

Panel topics include:

• Defending Immigrant Rights lead by the NW Immigrant Rights Project
• Allies in Resistance lead by Casa Latina
• Role of Elected Officials in the Resistance
• Affirmative Litigation Strategies
• Rapid Response Training

The program has an exciting line-up of speakers and break-outs for discussion and networking among participants. Please help us spread the word!
