Hardship fund set up for locked-out workers

Seattle Teamsters have now been locked out by Mauser for over two weeks

SEATTLE, WA (April 29, 2025) — Industrial Container Services, LLC (ICS), which does business as Mauser Packaging Solutions, locked out a group of 20 Teamsters on April 14. The workers, who refurbish industrial barrels, have been picketing at the company’s facility in the South Park neighborhood of Seattle ever since.

The company broke off contract negotiations with Teamsters Local 117 on April 11 after issuing an ultimatum that would force workers into accepting low pay and inconsistent hours. Workers are standing strong together in the face of the multinational corporations’ greed, determined to secure a fair contract.

Teamsters 117 has established the Mauser Lockout Worker Hardship Fund to support workers facing financial hardship as a result of the lockout. Donations will go directly to workers facing the greatest need.

Donations can be made at Teamsters117.org or by check to: Teamsters 117 Attn: Mauser Lockout – Worker Hardship Fund, 14675 Interurban Ave. S. Suite 307, Tukwila, WA 98168.

Workers, fellow Teamsters, local labor and elected leaders rallied last week calling on Mauser to end the lockout and settle a fair contract with the workers.

“My co-workers and I do dangerous work inside this facility,” said Josue Calvario, a five-year employee. “We’re constantly inhaling toxic fumes and dust from the barrels. All we are asking for is livable wages and sustainable hours to help pay our bills and keep a roof over our heads.”
