Layoff assistance for state workers
WSLC, state agencies and partners sharing resources available for state workers and contractors facing job loss
OLYMPIA, WA (June 9, 2025) — For local public servants experiencing layoffs as a result of federal funding cuts and budget cuts at the state level, help is available. Following a successful series of educational sessions for impacted federal workers, the Washington State Labor Council, the Washington State Employment Security Department and WorkSource WA are offering a free session detailing resources available for laid off workers in Washington.
The virtual, no-cost session will take place Tuesday, June 10 from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m., and is open to all state employees and contractors. Register here. Registration closes at 5:00 p.m. today, June 9.
WSLC Workforce Development Directors Emmanuel Flores and Chelsea Mason-Placek are helping lead the training, which will cover resources like accessing unemployment benefits, navigating health care benefits, career guidance, job assistance, and other resources offered by the WSLC.
Readers are encouraged to download the session flyer and share it broadly.
