Workers at Insert Coin seek union
Employees at the Olympia location are organizing their union with UFCW Local 367, seeking a voice on the job
OLYMPIA, WA (June 10, 2025) — 35 workers at Insert Coin, a popular arcade and eatery recently opened in Olympia, have gone public with their campaign to win union representation with UFCW Local 367. The sought-after bargaining unit is comprised of all workers at the establishment who are not in managerial roles or on track for a managerial role, including kitchen staff, servers, bartenders, arcade floor attendants, and arcade technicians.
The workers first contacted UFCW Local 367 with some concerns about inconsistent scheduling and the need for a trusted avenue to raise concerns with management. Many workers describe Insert Coin as a generally great place to work, but they’re looking to unionize to ensure their voice is heard when they raise concerns or bring up ideas to improve working conditions — and to make sure management respects their work.

“I want to unionize not just for me but for my team. Personally, it’s not about making more money (though that wouldn’t hurt). I want more power for everyone in the workplace because it has felt like management has overall been inconsistent, uncommunicative, and overbearing,” said Hadley Parsons, Arcade Attendant. “I believe that together we can create a better environment for everyone and we can use our collective voice to affect positive change.
“I love insert coin, I enjoy coming into work every day and having the freedom to be goofy and make the work my own. The team is amazing, but we were treated unfairly and I want that to change,” continued Parsons.
So far, management has been receptive to the workers’ desire to unionize, implementing some of the workers’ requested changes and engaging with UFCW Local 367 on a path towards voluntary recognition. Workers are also moving through the steps for a NLRB election, should management change course.
UFCW 367 is planning a series of “Union Nights” at Insert Coin, inviting the labor community to come out to the establishment to show support for the workers’ union drive — and have some fun while they’re at it. Stay tuned for details on these upcoming events.
