Citizenship clinic for union families coming to Yakima

Permanent resident union members and their families are invited to take the next step toward becoming U.S. citizens

YAKIMA, WA (October 29, 2025) — The Washington State Labor Council, AFL-CIO, American Federation of Teachers Washington, UFCW Local 3000, and Nuestra Castra are hosting a one-day citizenship clinic on November 15, helping eligible union members and their families complete their naturalization applications to become U.S. citizens.

Citizenship is more than a legal status — it’s an empowering step that strengthens workers’ voices on the job, at the ballot box, and in our communities. By becoming citizens, union members build collective power, protect their families, and open the door to new opportunities and stability for generations to come.

Experienced immigration legal teams will be on hand to provide consultations for eligible permanent residents. There is a service fee of just $100 for this assistance, and some may qualify for no-cost services depending on eligibility. Appointments are encouraged and can be made by calling Nuestra Casa at 509-839-7602.

Location: 507 South 3rd Street, Yakima, WA 98901
Date: Saturday, November 15, 2025
Time: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

This clinic is part of the WSLC’s innovative program offering naturalization legal services for union members. The Council recognizes immigration as a labor issue; bad bosses weaponize immigration status to divide workers against one another and to silence workers who advocate for themselves. Started in August 2020 and based in the Yakima Valley, the program is run by U.S. Department of Justice-certified Community, Union & Naturalization Organizer Dulce Gutiérrez.
