Labor champions joining pre-Session forum

Four of the strongest pro-worker voices in the State Legislature will join a Harry Bridges Center event on October 16

SEATTLE, WA (October 8, 2025) — Policymakers and advocates are gearing up for a legislative session amid a troubling state revenue forecast and chaos at the federal level. The 2026 session is a “short session,” lasting only 60 days. That’s about a two month countdown clock for hashing out budget adjustments and policy changes that will impact millions of people and one of the strongest state economies in the U.S.

In preparation, the Harry Bridges Center for Labor Studies will host a Labor Legislator forum featuring four labor champions from the State House and Senate on Thursday, October 16th from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. in HUB 332 on the University of Washington Seattle campus.

The panel features Representatives Liz Berry (D-Seattle), Mary Fosse (D-Everett), and Shaun Scott (D-Seattle), as well as Senator Steve Conway (D-Pierce Co.). Moderating the panel will be the Washington State Labor Council’s Government Affairs Director John Traynor, who for years has been instrumental in implementing organized labor’s policy agenda in Olympia.

The event will include light refreshments and an opportunity to engage with legislators about their connections to labor, their policy priorities, and the importance of strong labor policy at the state and local levels.

Register online to attend; RSVPs are requested, but not required.
