How does AI impact you?
The Washington State Attorney General’s Office is conducting research to try to understand AI’s impact on Washington’s workforce
OLYMPIA, WA (January 9, 2026) — Artificial intelligence seems like it’s everywhere these days, from widgets in our emails to constant coverage in the news. As companies move forward with AI products, remake their workforces to direct resources towards AI, and push ever greater use of this tech, it begs the question: how is AI really impacting working people?
The Washington State Attorney General’s Office AI Task Force is seeking to understand the impact AI is having on workers, particularly working people’s perspective on an AI job market and broader impacts it has on job seekers. The task force has launched a survey aimed at workers — both those currently employed and those unemployed — as well as students soon to enter the job market.
The survey poses some basic questions for respondents about demographics and current employment. It also asks respondents to share their familiarity with AI tools and their opinion of the tech, as well as how they see it impacting their work in the near future and longterm. It also includes questions about AI skills, and the option for respondents to share their email address to potentially be contacted for further questions as the task force continues it’s work.
Participation in the survey is entirely voluntary and responses are confidential, with optional demographic questions at the end of the survey. It takes about 5-10 minutes to complete. Interested readers can learn more about the survey and submit their answers online.
