Seattle APALA marks Day of Remembrance
Join the local chapter of the Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance for two actions commemorating Japanese American Day of Remembrance
The following is from APALA Seattle Chapter:
PIERCE CO., WA (February 18, 2026) — Seattle APALA urges you to join us in this year’s Japanese American Day of Remembrance on Saturday, February 21, 2026. In learning about the history of Japanese American incarceration during World War II, we see the earlier roots of anti-Asian violence and exclusion and how this scapegoating shows up in today’s ICE targeting of immigrants, including Southeast and South Asians, all undocumented persons and more.
The Day of Remembrance program at Puyallup Fairgrounds is sponsored by our allies, Puyallup Japanese American Citizens League and is followed by a Solidarity Day at the Northwest Detention Center, 1623 East J Street, Tacoma, WA 98421, 1-2 pm with the Seattle chapter, Tsuru for Solidarity.
