Stamp Out Hunger with NALC

The one-day food drive is a simple but impactful way you can help stock the food banks in your area this Saturday

(May 8, 2026) — The 33rd annual National Association of Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger food drive will take place tomorrow, Saturday May 9 across all 50 states. As letter carriers travel their route tomorrow dropping off mail, they’ll also be ready to pick up donation bags of non-perishable food to take to local food banks. Now in it’s third decade of operation, the one-day food drive is a powerful expression of how working people can take care of our communities when we take action together.

Stamp Out Hunger was born out of NALC’s commitment to the communities letter carriers serve six days out of the week, carrying medicine, vital documents, and communications from loved ones.

From NALC:

Since launching in 1993, the National Association of Letter Carriers’ annual Stamp Out Hunger® food drive has resulted in more than 1.94 billion pounds of food collected, replenishing food shelves in thousands of community food banks nationwide. It is held on the Second Saturday in May in 10,000 cities and towns in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Guam. The food drive’s success is due to the dedication of letter carriers, volunteers, and support from our partners and local food agencies. We invite you to join letter carriers and our partner organizations in the fight to end hunger in our communities by participating in the annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.

The food drive has seen broad participation since it started. In its first year alone, more than 11 million pounds of food was collected from more than 220 branches, setting a one-day record for the U.S.

Interested participants can enter their zip code here to find their local NALC branch and info needed to confirm participation. Then, simply leave a donation bag of non-perishable food near your mailbox and a letter carrier will take it from there.

With high prices at the gas pump and grocery store, participating in the Stamp Out Hunger food drive is an impactful way to support community members who need a helping hand.
