Super Committee: We want JOBS, not cuts!
Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security are in danger as Congress focuses on cuts, not jobs!
The “Super Committee” of six Democrats and six Republicans in Congress — co-chaired by Washington’s own Sen. Patty Murray — has been empowered to force both chambers to vote on a deficit-reduction bill that can neither be amended nor filibustered. Some of the Super Committee members have indicated a willingness to cut Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. Meanwhile, President Obama’s Jobs Bill funded by ending the Bush tax cuts for millionaires is languishing in Congress, even though it enjoys popular support from Americans.
It is UNACCEPTABLE to let more seniors fall into poverty, to deny needed health care to the poor and elderly, and to ignore the jobs crisis facing our nation while protecting the richest 1% of Americans who can comfortably afford to pay more! It’s time for members of this Super Committee to hear from us! Send a message to Sen. Murray so she can share the PEOPLE’S priorities with fellow committee members.
TAKE A STAND!
All residents of Washington state: Click here to send a message to U.S. Sen. Patty Murray. Call on her to urge her fellow Super Committee members: DO NOT CUT Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security! Instead, make recommendations to Congress that raise revenue from those who can afford to pay and use that money to invest in our infrastructure and create the jobs America needs. It’s time to do some nation-building here at home.
