Golf fundraiser in Wenatchee July 21 before WSLC Convention

FFWF-14-tourneyWENATCHEE — Prior to the Washington State Labor Council’s 2014 Convention, the WSLC and the Foundation for Working Families (FFWF) will host the annual golf tournament fundraiser, which benefits union disaster relief funds and community service agencies in Washington state. The event will be Monday morning, July 21 at the Highlander Golf Club in East Wenatchee. Sign up today to participate or help sponsor the event.

The FFWF is a nonprofit formed by the WSLC and its affiliated unions to assist union families in times of hardship or disaster. In 2014, the FFWF helped 38 families with approximately $13,000 from its Hardship Fund and $21, 000 from its Disaster Relief Fund.  The majority of this money was paid out to help families displaced and affected by the Oso mudslide. That tragedy depleted FFWF funds considerably so this year’s golf fundraiser is particularly important to help rebuild FFWF’s capacity to assist families in need.

Registration for the 11th Annual FFWF/WSLC Golf Invitational begins bright and early at 6 a.m. on July 21 at the beautiful Highlander Golf Club, 2920 8th Ave. SE in East Wenatchee, with a shotgun start at 7 a.m. Immediately following the tournament will be a lunchtime banquet. (If you are not a golfer, you can join us at the banquet for $20.) As always, there will be lots of great prizes for participants.
