UPDATE — Informational picketing at Providence Holy Family Hospital was a huge success on Monday, Aug. 25 (see more photos here). The Washington State Nurses Association sent this message to The Stand:

The Washington State Nurses Association and Registered Nurses at Providence Holy Family Hospital in Spokane thank our labor partners and community members for their overwhelming support during an informational picket held Monday.  Hundreds of RNs, community supporters, colleagues, families, and friends (and a few dogs), came out in force to let the administration at the hospital know how important their nurses are to the wellbeing of their community.

Union brothers and sisters, and supporters from Sacred Heart Medical Center, Machinists, SEIU (multiple locals), VA, Retired Public Employees, AFSME, Deaconess, and WFSE just to name a few stood tall in solidarity.  The nurses at Holy Family are currently in mediation and will continue to advocate for their profession and their patients as they fight for a fair contract.

wsna-rns-care-for-you-kidSPOKANE (Aug. 25, 2014) — The Washington State Nurses Association invites all Spokane-area supporters of quality patient care to join them for informational picketing at Providence Holy Family Hospital, 5633 N. Lidgerwood St. in Spokane, from 2 to 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 25.

Nurses at the hospital are struggling in negotiations all year long to achieve a fair contract. After mediation sessions in July, the WSNA bargaining team still has been unable to come to an agreement with management on major issues such as staffing, health insurance, and wages.

More mediation is scheduled for later this week, so now is the time to show Providence Holy Family administrators that the community supports quality patient care and fair treatment of its nursing staff. Please show your solidarity and support by participating in this informational picket.
