If you aren’t regularly checking The Stand’s calendar of labor events, you are missing out on informative forums and exciting opportunities to show solidarity with other union members around Washington state.

Here are some of the coming events listed there:

Paid Sick Days Forum (Tacoma) — Join Healthy Tacoma and the Tacoma Human Rights Commission as we discuss the benefits of a paid sick days ordinance for the City of Tacoma on Thursday, Aug. 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Centro Latino, 1208 S. 10th St. in Tacoma. Come and hear from local leaders, get your questions answered, and take part in an open discussion. Click to RSVP via Facebook.

2014 Union Ride & Charity Rally (Seattle) — This annual event will be from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 17 at the Seattle Center’s Key Arena. Join the 3rd annual ride to the event (kickstands up 1t 1 p.m. and arrive at the arena at 2 p.m.) This year’s event celebrates the working women of Washington and benefits the Storm Foundation, ANEW, the Puget Sound Blood Center, and Food Lifeline. Strengthening Women’s Economic Security (Spokane) — This community conversation on policies that support working women
and stronger, healthier families, will be held Wednesday, Aug. 20 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Spokane Falls Community College, Student Union Building 17 (Room 102-103), 3410 W Fort George Wright Dr. Get details.

2014 United Labor Bank Fishing Derby (Westport) — Benefiting labor community services agencies, this fun event will be in Westport, WA, on Saturday, Aug. 23. Advance registration, which is $225 and includes meals, charter boat fees, bait and tackle, and fish cleaning and packaging, is required and space is limited. Get details, including info on how to reserve your spot.
