March 1 event explores TPP’s harm to good food efforts

make-trade-fairSEATTLE — The Community Alliance for Global Justice presents “Another Food System is Possible! But Not With the TPP!” on Tuesday, March 1 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Washington State Labor Council, 321 16th Ave. S. in Seattle to explain everything you need to know about how new trade agreements undermine efforts to build a good food movement.

The Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) is due to come up for a vote in Congress soon. Come to learn everything you need to know about why the TPP must be stopped if we want to keep building a better food system for all. Presenters will include the CAGJ’s Michael Righi on how the TPP undermines food sovereignty; Kristen Beifus of UFCW 21 on your right to know about your food and the TPP; Selden Prentice of 350 Seattle on how the TPP allows corporations to sue governments for potential lost profit; and Gillian Locasio of the Washington Fair Trade Coalition on how we can defeat the TPP.

For more information, see the event Facebook page. Free food and refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP here to attend.
