Labor-community event for racial justice May 14 in Renton

AFTWA-Solidarity-EventRENTON — AFT Washington invites all to attend “Labor & Community: Standing Together in Solidarity for Racial Equity and Justice,” a special daylong event from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 14 at Renton Technical College’s Resource Center Bldg. C, 3000 N.E. 4th St. in Renton.

In partnership with 21 Progress, Sound Alliance, Asian Pacific Islander Coalition, Laborer’s International Union, Statewide Poverty Action Network, student organizations and other groups, Saturday’s activities include racial equity and justice workshops, information about apprenticeships and professional-technical programs that provide access to living-wage jobs, storytelling for change, free books for children, campus activism, voter engagement opportunities, workers’ rights, spoken word, student debt relief, and strategies for younger activists and organizers.
