Here’s how to support the Kellogg’s strikers

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (Nov. 30, 2021) — On Oct. 5, some 1,400 members of the BCTGM International Union at Kellogg’s cereal plants in Battle Creek, Mich. (Local 3G), Omaha, Neb. (Local 50G), Lancaster, Pa. (Local 374G) and Memphis, Tenn. (Local 252G) took a stand on the future of their workforce by going on strike.

In contract negotiations, the company had proposed to take away premium health care benefits, retirement benefits, holiday and vacation pay, cost-of-living wage increases, and jobs by moving production lines to Mexico. Management also proposed a new two-tier system where new hires make less money, have higher health insurance payments and will not earn a pension. They had even proposed to remove the Union Label from all Kellogg’s cereal boxes!

For nearly 8 weeks, Kellogg’s workers have stood strong on the picket line, demanding a fair contract offer. After threatening to hire permanent scabs (replacement workers), the company is finally returning to the bargaining table today. So today is a great time to show your solidarity with striking Kellogg’s workers. Let’s show these brave Kellogg’s workers that organized labor throughout the country has their backs!

Here’s how you can support them:

Sign Their Petition. Let the workers know you’re with them! Add your name to their online pledge.

Send a solidarity letter. Mail or email letters of encouragement directly to the strikeline organizers so they can share them with the workers. Click here to download their addresses and emails.

Donate to a Strike Fund. Strike Funds are helping workers meet basic needs and supply their strike lines so they can remain steadfast in their mission for a fair contract. Each location has its own fundraiser, managed by organizers directly in contact with the workers. While the BCTGM International Union supports these fundraising efforts, none of them are directly affiliated with the headquarters office. Use the links below to donate by location:

Help us spread the word on Social Media! Make sure you’re following all BCTGM social media pages/hashtags and help them re-share daily #KelloggStrike photos, news articles, podcasts and videos. Download a flyer to share these in your workplace, church and community.
